Hailing the introduction of new manager Alan Curbishly, exuberant West Ham shocked the Premiership leader Manchester United with a 1-0 defeat. West Ham rewrote the history when they registered their first ever home win, in the history of the Premiership League, against Manchester United, the most successful Premiership team this season. West Ham had to wait for long five years, when they beat United at Old Trafford, to record a win against one of the ever best teams (ManU) of the Premiership League.
Though, the United dominated the game from the very beginning and kept the possession throughout the match, it wasn’t enough to hold the spirited West Ham who took the invincible lead in the 75th minute when Nigel Reo-Coker (captain of West Ham) lashed on the opportunity, offered by the poor defending from Rio Ferdinand, to score an easy goal. Though, this was the first goal of the year for Nigel Reo-Coker but importantly it come out at the right time.
Yesterday’s victory become even special for Alan Curbishly, for it is his first ever win over United in his fifteen years of coaching career. Curbishly took the charge of the West Ham, few days back, in a situation when they were not doing well and lying in the relegation zone. He replaced Alan Pardew who was thrashed out of the charge after three consecutive defeats
It was totally a committed performance by Hammers that resulted in a victory, which certainly will motivate the team and keep them up for the future games. On the other, it was a serious blow for the Premiership leaders (ManU) as their lead was cut to just two points from Chelsea who is lying on the second spot, owing to their narrow triumph over Everton.
