Petr Cech Undergoes a Neurosurgery

It is a part of the goal-keepers routine to get injured… Injuries are a part of their workout…But the injuries can be seriously devastating sometimes… This is what has happened in case of Chelsea’s ace keeper Petr Cech…He suffered a severe head injury during the Blues game against Reading… He has undergone a neurosurgery on a depressed skull fracture at the Oxford’s Radcliffe Infirmary and is expected to be out of action until 2007. Petr Cech suffered the injury in a collision with Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt…Hunt’s knee collided with the keepers head pressing his skull inwards…The skull fragments could be dangerous as they could damage the brain… Keeping the seriousness of the injury in mind it could be concluded that Cech would certainly miss out on a couple of months…Though Chelsea will make any conformations about his return only after consultation with the specialists. The Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had condemned Hunt for his tackle, complaining that he had hurt the keeper on purpose… Chelsea will write in to the Football Association to look up into the matter. Cech’s replacement Carlo Cudicini also injured himself in the same game… Though his inclusion in the squad for Blues Champions League encounter against Barcelona has not yet been ruled out… But it is unlikely that the injured keeper will be fit for it, leaving the only option for Chelsea to start with their third-choice keeper Hilario, who is yet to make a debut for the Blues… With Petr out if Cudicini is not fit to play soon then it is sure troubles calling for Chelsea.
