Sevilla seems to be a tough negotiator in transfer deals. The club traded winger Jose Antonio Reyes to Arsenal, while striker Julio Baptista and defender Sergio Ramos were moved to Real Madrid for a huge sum of 76 million euros in the last three years.
In latest developments, the UEFA Cup holders have turned down Chelsea’s bid to seize Brazilian international defender Daniel Alves. Chelsea earlier offered 28 million euros ($37.6 million), 8 million euros less than what Sevilla wants.
Citing the offer too low for the high rated player the club is reluctant to vow.
Sevilla said in a statement, ‘Sevilla would like to make clear... that they have rejected Chelsea’s offer because it is a very long way from the value put on the player by the club.’
The ongoing negotiations between the two clubs shows that a consensus may soon be developed with a new hike in the basic fee of 32 million euros plus an extra 4 million depending on performance.
The 24-year-old, Alves joined Sevilla from Bahia in 2003. With a successful 2006-07 season, Alves scored 5 goals in the marked 47 appearances. He was also a part of Brazil’s Copa America-winning squad, a month ago.
