The CONCACAF Gold Cup is the main international football competition of the CONCACAF nations. The participating nations are from North and Central America and from the Caribbean islands. In addition, up to three entrants from the other world football confederations are invited to play in the final tournament. The Gold Cup has been hosted by the United States each time, twice co-hosted with Mexico.
Mexico and the United States are now to combat in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final, scheduled for Sunday. Both won the semi-finals which depicted close encounters.
Mexico is a four-time champion of this tournament and has never lost in the final, but the Mexicans haven’t beaten the defending champions on U.S. soil since 2000.
The Americans will play the final without both Hejduk and Michael Bradley.
The United States and Mexico have both been struggling to find the tempo. Thursday night games were also no different. The Americans, title holders and hosts, advanced with a controversial 2-1 victory over Canada while a brilliant strike from Pavel Pardo gave Mexico a 1-0 win over Guadeloupe.
Despite the win or loss, the final game will portray an exciting scenario and the team that comes out strongly, will have an upper hand.
