Martin Allen takes over as new Leicester City manager

Martin Allen pipped the trio of Nigel Worthington, Neil Warnock and Paul Ince to take over as the new Leicester City manager. Alen, who helped MK Dons to the fourth place in League Two last season, signed a three-year deal with Leicester City. An elated Allen later said I’m honoured and privileged to take on the challenge of getting this team to win and to see us fulfill the ambitions of the chairman and fans. Having enjoyed some good times in the Conference, League One and League Two I feel ready to make the next step. Though Allen has never managed at the Championship level before, his new club is optimistic that his managerial skill will help the outfit overcome a poor season, which saw them finish as low as 19th in the points table. Allen’s appointment dashed Leicester City’s caretaker manager Nigel Washington’s hopes. Washington had taken over after Rob Kelly left the job and he did a fair job by helping the side avoid relegation.
