Lille face UEFA sanctions post Man Utd Scuffle

Ryan Giggs backed his instincts, availed the opportunity and scored (in Man U’s 1-0 win), leaving the League 1 side Lille morn over their lapse – yet again instigating us enthusiasts to believe the game is all about foresight and quickness. Lille requested the UEFA to replay their Champions League first leg game against Manchester United – post their exasperation over the referee’s decision to allow a quick taken free kick (while the defenders were lining up for the wall), goal form Giggs. Lille appealed to disallow the goal – an argument that has been overturned by the European football’s governing body, with evidences of the video replays and official reports not proving any technical error. On the contrary, the UEFA has decided to impose sanctions against Lille for their post goal reaction and improper behavior, seeing that the players had endeavored to get the game abandoned.
