Lennon’s misery adds to Beckham’s rejoice!

It is the Knee injury victim, 20 year old, Aaron Lennon who adds to McClaren’s and English woes – Lennon following the scan results will not form a part of the England soccer team in the forthcoming matches against Brazil and Estonia. It may be disheartening for the fans though, one man who derives the most out of the aforementioned exclusion is the legend – David Beckham – the Real Madrid midfielder could get his first appearance under Steve McClaren’s reign, he could be starting against the Brazilians at the new Wembley Stadium on Friday. After the poor run in the world cup Beckham had to part with his captaincy and the spot in the international side – the run continued and the bench became the spot for the fashion icon in Spain as well. Things worsened – in January, when Becks signed his future with the Los Angeles Galaxy that kicks off in the summer – a move that saw him excluded from Madrid by Coach Fabio Capello. The Englishman had been great all while in the marketing front but failed where it really counted the most – however, of late Becks’ found stride and is at the core of Madrid’s renaissance. It would be naive to reduce a team to individuals but not wrong to say that since Beckham has found a way back into the Spanish giants – the trailing train has met the track – owing to which the England’s boss too has decided to revert to the charismatic boot, inviting Beckham back to the English squad. The 32 year old Beckham is not growing any younger – and this was one main rationale that kept the Coaches concerned disinterested in his abilities. After the friendly at new Wembley England will travel to Estonia for a must-win Euro 2008 qualifier on Wednesday 6 June, where a victory is imperative, not only to England’s chances of reaching next summer’s finals in Austria and Switzerland but also to McClaren’s hopes of retaining his job. Considering the significant present scenario, McClaren who has always been critical of the former England captain is outright in claiming now that Becks’ inclusion is no haste decision but a full detailed and planned move. England needs experience to better Estonia – and I think Beckham has loads of it – one cause prompting his insertion. Beckham is in very good form lately and is fresher than most of the players as the season nears conclusion – I say this because – he has had very less opportunity to play for his club and internationally. He can be a great contributor, England can gain a lot from him – as his ability of precise free kicking, and accurate passing are valuable and most importantly not dependent on youth.
