frederic-kanoute_4305Sevilla fans heaved a huge sigh of relief after the club’s star striker Frederic Kanoute rubbished rumours about his possible England move and pledged to stay with the club.

It was double bonanza for the club, which won the King’s Cup final this weekend when Kanoute scored the winner against Getafe.

Kanoute said

I’ve got two years left on my contract and I’m not planning on moving from here.
I’ve read a lot of things that aren’t true. had two great seasons here and now we’ve won another trophy. My aim is to keep on fighting for Sevilla.

The Mali international, who had stints with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, has been the livewire of the Sevilla attack and Kanoute scored 21 goals to power his side to a finish third in the Primera Liga.

Kanoute’s goal-scoring ability was on display again in the King’s Cup final. With the goal, Kanoute also maintained his spree of scoring on each of the four occasions when Sevilla won the Cup.
