
Luca Toni dominated the centerpiece of Italy’s convincing 3-0 victory over Ukraine in the quarterfinals match at Dortmund of FIFA World Cup 2006. Italy will face Germany in the semifinals.
Debutant Ukraine faced a blow when defender Gianluca scored a goal in the sixth minute of the game by his 20-meter shoot. Luca Toni widened the lead with a powerful header in the 59th minute of the game. Toni seemed unstoppable. He put the Ukrainians into the neck deep trouble with his second goal in the 69 minute.
With this victory, Italy has extended their unbeaten feat to 23 games.
