Spanish powerhouse Barcelona was shocked facing a defeat of 1-0 by Brazil’s Internacional in the final match on Sunday at International Stadium Yokohama, Japan and bagged the Club World Cup.

The goal was contributed by the Internacional’s substitute Adriano in the 82nd minute, when Inter forward Larley made a superb pass to Adriano who beat Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes with a right-foot shot.
The 19-year-old Adriano did not believe he scored the goal. He said:
We’ve beaten Barcelona, and it was a very satisfying performance. They were strong in the first half, but we played as a cohesive unit.
Before a crowd of 67,128, Barcelona made as many attempts to score a goal as the Inter did in the first half, but Inter defended very well and made things difficult for the Spanish team.
Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard sent Spanish midfielder Xavi on early in the second half and he came close in the 74th minute with an angled volley that Inter goalie Clemer saved.
Now the South American Club Internacional is the winner of the Club World Cup 2006, they will try their level best to perform at the same pace in the future. Hope Barcelona would forget the pain of defeat, and will come up with full enthusiasm next year to prove themselves as the new champions.
