Hosts England was upset by Germany while world champions Italy along with Argentina, Netherlands and the United States joined the loosing party in the ongoing friendly ties.

World’s most expensive sports arena, London’s new Wembley Stadium witnessed Germany edging on top from a goal down to register 2-1 victory over ancient rivals, England. With two crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers just on the way, the latest exhibition game provided Coach Steve McClaren more problems than answers.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard gave England an early breakthrough lead. However, for Germany Pander replied by his debut goal with a 25 yard, left-foot shot. However, a slight error by the keeper Paul Robinson enabled Kevin Kuranyi to strike the final, winning goal for the Germans in the second half.

Though, England had easy chances to square the match but star-players totally failed to capitalise.

Former England captain Beckham also played a lively game for full ninety minutes, making his first international comeback, since joining Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy, a month ago.

Repeating the feat, Germany had earlier won here on its last visit to England by also marking the last international match at the old Wembley Stadium.
