Chelsea routed Levski 2-0 and gained top position in their Champions League group. Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko did the job and kicked off the massacre with the opening goal and ultimately becoming the second highest scorer in European competition, just behind Gerd Muller with a margin of five.
Substitute Shaun Wright-Phillips scored the second in the 87th minute, his first, goal and took the game away from Levski. Shevchenko’s scored the first goal in the 27th minute with Lampard’s support piercing the toothless defense of the rivals. Levski managed to attack only once during the whole game.
Chelsea’s accurate passing strategy and clinical approach made them dominate the match and dictate their own terms making Levski feel ill equipped.
All were expecting the Blues to defeat Bulgarians with a bit more margin, however, their first experience of the UEFA’s superior standards do instill some experience into them, though they’ve lost all six matches.
Now, Barcelona, after defeating Werder Bremen 2-0, along with Chelsea have qualified for the coming up knockout stage.
