Adriano and substitute Fred gave two goals to lift defending champions to post a 2-0 victory over Australia and reach the second round of 18th FIFA World Cup.

Striker Adriano scored his first goal of the tournament in 49th minute of the game after Brazil ended the first half with frustration. Guus Hiddink’s men showed their supremacy in the first time. At once, they built pressure on the South Americans.

The genuine fast game of the Brazilian came into prominence when the replacement of Ronaldo, Robinho came to hold the ground. The ageing star Ronaldo was not even of his shades of his old times on the field. There were misses, wrong cross passes extra delaying time to retain the ball that dominated the slow game until the 75th minutes of play.

However, the Australians missed some of the chances during the crucial hour of the game. The substitute Fred taking full advantage of the situation scored a brilliant goal in the 90th minute of the game.

Now Australia needs just one point to reserve their place in the pre-quarter final.
