Jared Borgetti thinks that Mexico is poised to make history in this year’s edition of the FIFA World Cup. According to 33-year old striker,
We had been always treated like a growing selection, but today the situation is totally different. We have gained others’ respect and we are known to them...
... as we are going to play as favorite and expecting that his team will write history.
Borgetti, also known as El Zorro del Desierto (or The Desert Fox) to his fans, was the top scorer in the world during qualifiers with an astonishing 14 goals in his kitty.
Mexico has produced some fabulous players over the years. However, they have always played under the shadows of their Latin American cousins - Brazil and Argentina. Even Colombia managed to gain more attention in 1994 championships and was touted to win the Cup.
What remains to be seen is whether Mexico can manage to emerge as a great team from a good team. We definitely want Borgetti’s words to come true.
