I knew this was coming, but that it would be so lucrative was really beyond my imagination - He may have been a scapegoat at Real Madrid but the most celebrated footballer on the planet has agreed to make his way to the land of stars ‘Hollywood’, in what could be termed as a win-win deal for all.

For David Beckham who had been delaying his contract signing with the Spanish Giants, an offer as this wouldn’t have been hard to accept. The 31 year-old, former England international has agreed on switching loyalties from Spain to America - he has agreed to a luring offer of $250 million for the next five years, signing a new contract with the Los Angles Galaxy beginning in August.

This isn’t the very first time that money has drawn a professional to the States, one prominent name besides Beckham is the best known footballer ever ‘Pele’, who like Becks spent the last phase of his footballing career in the US. A new rule at the Major League Soccer consents a club to recruiting a star name and, the management is hopeful that with the arrival of Beckham, States will witness a major incursion of stars from all over the globe.

With an earning salary of £70,000 a day somewhere five times more than the rest of the Galaxy squad put together - provide the required weight to my statement when I term the deal as a win for all: viz. for his football academy in US, for his spicy wife, who put aside her singing career for endorsing her husbands fashion brand, for his sponsors who will get more of him. However, for Beckham this deal has nothing but money, though better to Madrid where the sheer talent was wasted on the bench - But for me Beckham has lost out of competitive football and only Pacific-to-Pacific advertisements remain in his clutches.

For me as a football fanatic this deal makes no sense and neither will it for soccer in America or elsewhere, it is just a disguise in thin air, a promotional gimmick - Becks other than football could also try out something he hasn’t done ever: his chocolaty appearance could definitely land him amidst the performers at Hollywood, also a brilliant opportunity for Victoria to try her talent out.
