After eight seasons of serving Arsenal with distinction, talismanic striker Thierry Henry will join Barcelona next week in a mind-boggling £16million move.
Henry, the Arsenal captain, will sign a four-year contract with Barcelona, for a whopping £130,000-a-week salary.
Henry had decided to join Barcelona last year but after Arsenal lost in the Champions League Final, the Frenchman decided to stay back. Henry’s decision to finally leave the British club had a lot to do with Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein’s exit from the board.
Henry shares an excellent relation with David and once David was thrown out of the board, it snapped Henry’s emotional attachment with the club.
According to information, Arsenal authorities now regret ousting David but it’s already too late and Henry joining Barcelona next week is now a certainty.
Plagued by injuries and disappointed with Arsenal’s series of poor shows, Henry was looking for his future elsewhere and Barcelona did not miss the opportunity to lure in the prolific striker with a tempting deal.
At Barcelona, Henry would share the field with some of the best known names of the game that include Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi.
