Good news for Liverpool Football club, mercurial midfielder Xabi Alonso has extended his stay at the Anfield. There were some speculation in the media that he could shift to Spanish Primera Liga, but this move clearly demonstrate that he is keen to win something with Liverpool. According to Alonso, I knew there was interest from other clubs but it was always my idea to stay here. It’s a special club and I just didn’t want to leave. Though, last season for Liverpool was not that good but if manager Rafa Benitez can invest money in the upcoming summer, there is a strong possibility that Liverpool can win English Premier League (EPL) next season. Interestingly, Alonso is the fourth player to renew contract for next season. Earlier, captain Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and compatriot Pepe Reina have also signed the deal. In addition, Mohamed Sissoko and Steve Finnan are also expected to sign new contract this weekend.
